Sarah's Story
Before:
Sarah had the daunting task of clearing out her late parents’ home. The house was filled with a lifetime of belongings—furniture, paperwork, sentimental keepsakes, and boxes that hadn’t been opened in years. Every time she stepped inside, she felt overwhelmed. Where should she begin? What should she do with everything? The guilt, indecision, and stress made it feel impossible to start. She also had to navigate the feelings and wishes of other Relatives and decide who could have what. But she needed to get the house on the market as quickly as possible and she didn't see how this was possible.
Sarah and I met and discussed the challenges of this Process and her Goals:
Goals:
1. To empty the house completely and get it ready to Sell within 30 days
2. To give her Relatives an opportunity to get the items they wanted.
3. To sell anything that was valuable that no one wanted.
4. To securely shred any financial or sensitive paperwork.
5. To save mementos and family photos.
6. To donate the rest to local charities.
The Process:
- We used an online Inventory tool to upload photos of the items in the house so the Relatives could see everything and work out what they wanted. Then they had a deadline to get those items out of the house.
- We went through the house with Sarah to decide what was to be Kept, Donated, Sold, or Discarded. Then she turned the house and contents over to me and my team.
- We had expert resellers come in and buy anything valuable.
- We packed up all of Sarah's keep items and delivered to her.
- We packed up and bagged everything else and arranged for it to go to local charities.
- We used bulk trash pickup and a dumpster to clean out the rest of the house.
The End Result for Sarah
✔️ The family home was cleared out and sold without last-minute stress.
✔️ She had peace of mind knowing her parents’ belongings were handled with care.
✔️ The written Inventory made it clear where all of the items went in case any Relatives wanted to know.
✔️ The stress of the whole Project was finally over for her.
Clearing out a home isn’t just about moving things out—it’s about making thoughtful, confident decisions without feeling overwhelmed. Sarah’s cleanout was successful because she had:
✔️ A Customized Cleanout Plan – Every step of the process was mapped out, making progress feel achievable.
✔️ Sorting & Decision-Making Support – A guided approach made it easier to decide what to keep, donate, or discard.
✔️ Practical Tools & Checklists – Easy-to-follow worksheets and a categorized system simplified the process.
✔️ Coordinated Removal & Donation Services – No need to stress over logistics—items were handled with care.
✔️ Emotional Support & Guidance – Understanding and encouragement made even the hardest decisions easier.
Instead of struggling alone, Sarah had a clear path forward, and every step brought more relief and clarity
Sarah's Testimonial
*"I was completely overwhelmed cleaning out my parents' home. Every time I walked in, I felt stuck and going there every weekend to work on it myself was so depressing. Having a Plan that enabled me to just turn the house over to Christa and her team was a huge relief! I trusted her to make the right decisions and her support helping me deal with my relatives was invaluable. She was always calm, kind, and supportive while somehow still getting everything done. Once I hired her, after a year of struggling on my own, the house was emptied in a month and finally for Sale! I never would have believed that was possible! I’m so grateful for Christa’s help—I couldn’t have done it without her."*
